NCC is offering a "Second Chance Free" promotion for applicants who register for the Neonatal Neuro-Intensive Care examination between July 1 and August 31, 2026, by 11:59 pm CST. This special “Second Chance Free” promotion is only applicable to registrations for the Neonatal Neuro-Intensive Care (C-NNIC) examination. If a candidate registers for the NNIC exam during these dates and is not successful on the first attempt, they will be allowed to take the NNIC examination a second time for FREE after submitting another application and meeting eligibility.
Candidates have one year from the date they failed the first exam to register with the second chance free.
Please note, there is a 45-day waiting period from the first examination before you can register for the second attempt. This offer won't last long, so register starting July 1, 2026.

TESTING OVERVIEW
WHEN
Once determined eligible for NNIC examination, you will receive an eligibility notification by email and in your account with instructions on how to make your computer test center appointment. The 90-day testing window will be in your eligibility letter. To test after the 90-day window, there is a change fee and form required. One change is allowed.
WHERE
The examinations will be delivered via computer at one of the over 250 PSI Assessment Centers located throughout the United States and Canada. Exams will be administered by appointment only Monday through Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. PSI Assessment Centers are typically located in H&R Block offices. FEES
The examination fee is $210, which includes a nonrefundable $50 application fee submission cost. Individuals can submit a registration application online at any time.
- The examination fee must be paid when submitting the application.
- There is a $30 reprocessing fee for applications submitted with missing, incomplete, or incorrect information. Make sure your license upload includes the expiration date.
- After an exam is purchased, there is a 6-hour window to cancel the order. The order can be canceled by logging into the account and clicking on "Cancel Application" found under the new certification. Only you can cancel the application, and you must meet the 6-hour window.
- After 6 hours, an online Exam Withdrawal Request is required for a partial refund.
- All applications must be submitted online at the NCC website.
- All applications are reviewed for eligibility
- It can take up to two weeks to determine eligibility
- Once the application is approved, you will be emailed an eligibility letter that will indicate a 90-day eligibility window in which to schedule and take your examination. The eligibility letter can also be found in your account. You must schedule your exam within the first 30 days of your eligibility window to ensure you find a date within the 90-day window.

Use of Second Chance Free
You must have registered for the NNIC examination and PAID or used a Vocher for the registration fee during this time frame. For those who qualify, if you are not successful in achieving certification on your first examination attempt, you can apply to retake the same NCC Certification examination for a second attempt for free. (Please note, if you registered for an exam before July 1, 2026,, you do not qualify for a second chance free promotion). The promotion is based on the date of the PAID registration application. Registering with a free second chance free from previous or this promotion during the time frame does not provide you with another second chance free. You must follow the correct steps to Register below:
If you registered during the promotion time frame and are not successful on your first attempt, you will be eligible to reapply for the same certification examination after a 45-day waiting period and your fee for the second attempt will be waived. Candidates who fail on the first attempt have 12 months from the date they tested to register again for the same examination and receive their second chance free. To receive the second chance free, YOU MUST be signed into your account, use the link to apply for the exam again within your account, and then complete the application process to demonstrate continued compliance with all eligibility requirements. The fee will only be waived if you apply for the same certification. Do not make a payment or use a voucher code. If either is asked for, do not go forward with the application and contact NCC.
Offer to reapply at no cost is only valid for the 12 months following your first unsuccessful examination attempt. Please note that there is a 45-day waiting period after a failed examination attempt before you can register again. A voucher code will not be provided and should not be used when applying for a second attempt. Once signed in to the account, the registration process should be done using the "register for an exam" link on the Certification home page or directly from the link in your account. The policy for retesting, including the 45-day wait to register, is within this 12-month time frame.

- Current/active/unencumbered licensure in the U.S. or Canada as a physician (MD or DO), registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse, respiratory therapist or neonatal therapist (Occupational Therapists (OT), Physical Therapists (PT), Speech and Language Pathologists (SLP)). The license number, licensing state or province, and expiration date will need to be recorded. You will need to upload verification of current licensure or a copy of the license that shows the expiration date.
- No practice experience is required, but it is recommended that you have a minimum of one year of experience caring for neonates, for the best possibility of successfully completing the credentialing process.
